Under Parallels the USB driver problem does not show up in 'Control Panel Hardware and Sound Devices and Printers.' So wait, are some of you saying that you see no problem with the USB ports on i7 MacBooks, as reported when, for instance, you click on the laptop icon when you open Devices and Printers?or are you simply saying that you're not seeing issues with those USB ports during ordinary operation? The curious thing for me is that the ports seem to be working well, as long as I don't try to run/install any software that, before installing, looks to see that the ports are fine. It's completely possible that important aspects of the USB ports aren't working, though.
