Best Answer: The one thing I love about the Macbook Air especially the 11' is it's portability, it's a wonderfully compact and lightweight machine which still has plenty of grunt. If you are updating your older Macbook Pro and you have photoshop installed on it there is no reason why you can't install Photoshop on the new 'Air'. Just make sure that your version of Photoshop is compatible with OS X 10.7 which means Photoshop CS 5.
I have no problems running Adobe Photoshop on my Macbook Air. Also, if you need more screen real estate for those larger jobs an external monitor, something like the 27' Cinema Display is an ideal choice. Just one more thing before you get rid of your older 15' Macbook don't forget to deactivate Photoshop so you can re-install it on your new Macbook Air. That way you won't have any installation and authorisation issues with Adobe and Photoshop.
Answered by Peter V from Sarasota. Mar 26, 2012. Photoshop is a more complex application that will RUN on a Macbook Air but it won't be too speedy. If you edit professional photos, for a business, you definitely want to at least go with the 13' MacBook Pro, though i would not recommend that because it does not have a dedicated GPU (15' & 17' do). However, if you want to do some light editing on you're vacation photos, then yes, the 11' MacBook Air would work, but i do recommend upgrading to the 1.8GHz dual core i7 processor. It would help boost your photoshop performance. Also, one thing to consider for you is that the 11' MacBook Air doesn't have an SD card (memory card) slot.
